However, experts say the risk of these mostly non-cancerous growths is still very small. The study compared about fourteen hundred patients with a brain tumor called a meningioma to a group without brain tumors. Dr. Elizabeth Claus of Yale University led the study. She says it found that those with the tumors were about twice as likely to report having had a common kind of X-ray, called a bitewing. The link was greater with a kind of imaging called a panoramic X-ray. There was up to five times the risk, depending on age or how often the X-rays were taken.Dr. Claus points out that in this study, the people were generally in their fifties or older. They were asked to remember X-rays they might have had many years earlier. So there is a chance they might have under-reported or over-reported how many dental X-rays they had. Dr. Claus says she does not want to scare people away from dental visits. In her words: "The big take-home message is, keep going to the dentist. But have a conversation with your dentist about whether you might be able to reduce the number of X-rays that you receive." ]]> Bay Area Vision Meeting: Unsupervised Feature Learning and Deep Learning Bay Area Vision Meeting (more info below) Unsupervised Feature Learning and Deep Learning Presented by Andrew Ng March 7, 2011 ABSTRACT Despite machine learning's numerous successes, applying machine learning to a new problem usually means spending a long time hand-designing the input representation for that specific problem. This is true for applications in vision, audio, text/NLP, and other problems. To address this, researchers have recently developed "unsupervised feature learning" and "deep learning" algorithms that can automatically learn feature representations from unlabeled data, thus bypassing much of this time-consuming engineering. Building on such ideas as sparse coding and deep belief networks, these algorithms can exploit large amounts of unlabeled data (which is cheap and easy to obtain) to learn a good feature representation. These methods have also surpassed the previous state-of-the-art on a number of problems in vision, audio, and text. In this talk, I describe some of the key ideas behind unsupervised feature learning and deep learning, describe a few algorithms, and present case studies pertaining. Behind the name Quadron is singer Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj and musician / producer Robin Hannibal. Both are part of the collective soul Boom Clap Bachelors who in early 2008 secured much respect and success with the debut "Kort Før Dine Læber". Here they began their collaboration, and Robin fell for Coco's beautiful voice and ability to improvise with playful ease. Coco has, despite only being 21, already been ongoing for some years, where she beyond her role figure in front Boom clap bachelors' band,she also features lots of other Danish project. "The EP itself was inspired by an acoustic session we filmed last year in New York, whilst on tour with Protest The Hero. It made us realize that a few of the tracks sounded really great when re-arranged and approached at from a different perspective. It will feature 3 new versions of tracks from 'One' plus a very special cover'. TesseracT recently asked which TesseracT song our fans would most like me to do a play through video for. The result was "April". This is a very straight forward track that focuses mainly upon the feel and the groove. I honestly don't think I play this track precisely the same twice, as the intensity and emotion will change each performance depending upon my mood, the environment and the sound I'm hearing. Seeing as we're about to release an new version soon, I decided to film myself recording that one. So, I filmed and recorded three separate takes for three different angles, and then created a comp track for the final bounce. This is just a rough mix by me at my home studio, that is slightly bass heavy so you can more clearly define whats going on. I hope to soon have enough time to transcribe the whole album, at which point I will also publish tabs and manuscripts for our debut album 'One'. In this recording I chose to use a Warwick Thumb BO BN for the deep dark sound it produces. This then went into an Electro Harmonix Black Finger Tube Compressor, and then straight into <b>...</b>

But for almost 50 years Giger has been producing artwork and has established himself as one of the word's best Fantastic Realism artists. Born in 1940 in Chur Switzerland he know resides in Zurich Switzerland. But JustSayGo's television host and travel journalist Ron Stern caught up with Giger at his bar in Gruyeres Switzerland. The artist is not known for giving many interviews, especially on camera, which is what makes the exclusive interview so special. Ron was also able to talk to Giger's wife Carmen Maria Giger who mentions having a poster of Giger's work when she was 17 but had no idea who the artist was. He is an artist that has had a career most artists would envy. Early in his career he set himself apart by using a freehand airbrush technique to develop his own unique and now well known style. In 1977 he published the book Necronomicon which is what was the visual inspiration for director Ridley Scott's film Alien. The director commissioned HR Giger to design the film's title character as well as the film's alien environment. These designs earned Giger an Oscar in 1980 for Best Achievement in Visual Effects. Giger's work also had an influence on rock n roll. His work graced the cover of many notable musicians such as Debbie Harry, Danzig, and Celtic Frost, just to name a few.
